Dr. Loewen has practiced many years of sedation and trained with specialists in advanced Dental Residency in Minnesota, (Dental Graduate of Manitoba). With the hospital training as an intern he has been practising IV sedation to promote a relaxed state of sleep. In addition to conscious sedation another form of sedation to be ‘completely out’ requires another Doctor on staff- Dr. Daya –Department Head of Anesthesia from the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg. The facility is fully accredited to administer sleep dentistry, so rest assured to wake up with all the dentistry completed and “not remember or feel a thing”. Dr. Loewen has advanced hospital training (UM residency) for implant surgery, dental extractions and wisdom teeth extractions. He has trained with the highest level of standards. Rest assured your dental surgery will be taken care of.
Dr. Loewen is a dean’s honor graduate of the University of Winnipeg and Manitoba. University of Winnipeg where he received his undergraduate degree in Biology. He received his doctoral medical dental degree from the University of Manitoba College of Dentistry.
After finishing his Bachelor of Science at the University of Winnipeg, Dr. Loewen explored the healthcare field while working as a firefighter and paramedic for two years at Station 5 in Winnipeg. This experience sparked his passion for helping others through hands-on healthcare and inspired him to pursue a career in dentistry. Because of his extensive experience outside of dentistry, Dr. Loewen understands that patients’ personal backgrounds are important pieces of their identities and that understanding patients’ identities is critical to delivering compassionate dental care.
Dr. Loewen has taught continuing education post graduate courses to practicing dentists in emergencies in the dental office at University of Manitoba, so have a peace of mind of a paramedic always on staff. He also enjoyed teaching University of Manitoba dental students dental surgery at Mount Carmel Clinic.
Outside the clinic Dr. Loewen can be found spending time with his family and friends.
